I just joined the Facebook community much to the consternation of my children. Apparently this is another no no that old, decrepit parents shouldn't be doing because the young have invented it....well in this case they have but it's our turn to jump in..lol. It's not really my idea of "fun" however, my son is in the high school marching band and most of the photos taken of the events have been posted there. It seems that between the blog (which I'm recent to), etsy, facebook, and my daily work/home computer banking/bookkeeping that the computer is slowly going to eat away at valuable sewing time...or is it?!
Not so many years ago our fore-quilters and ourselves had to travel to meeting and/or friends homes in order to share our work and get the creative feedback we need to continue our pursuit of the art form. Today, we are able to simply post our newest accomplishments or failures and receive instant feedback or commiseration from like minded people. So are we saving time?!, I personally still travel to a guild or two, spends gads of time at my local quilt shop sharing and discussing every one's work and now I have ADDED the time spent on the computer. Is it time wasted that could be spent quilting....I say NO...it simply adds to the rich resource of others creativity helping my work become better through the friendships and camaraderie that we grow through all things "quilty".
Let me know how you feel about sharing your sewing time, with the computer....it could be worse we could be cleaning house!!
